Primary skin lesions are abnormal skin conditions present at birth or acquired over a person’s lifetime. Secondary skin lesions are the result of irritated or manipulated primary skin lesions.

What is a Skin Tag?
Skin Tags are small, soft, skin coloured growths that hang off the skin, looking similar to warts. They are very common, harmless and can vary in size, ranging from a few millimetres up to about 2 inches wide.
They are most commonly found on the neck, armpits, groin, breasts, eyelids or under the folds of the buttocks. They are made of loose collagen (a type of protein found throughout the body) and blood vessels. Usually they are harmless and don’t cause pain, however, you may consider having skin tags removed if they are affecting your self-esteem, or if they catch on clothing/jewellery and bleed.
Treatment
Skin tags can be treated at one of our minor surgery clinics. The usual process involves a local anaesthetic to numb the area, excision of the skin tags and closure of the wound.

Keloid Scars
What is a Keloid Scar?
A keloid scar is a tough, lump scar that is raised quite abruptly above the rest of the skin. They are usually irregularly shaped and tend to enlarge progressively, unlike common scars, which regress over time. Usually, besides appearance, they have no symptoms, but sometimes they can cause pain, tenderness, itchiness, burning and limited movement in joints.
Treatment
Keloid scars can be treated at one of our minor surgery clinics. The usual process involves an injection of a steroid into the scar, which can help flatten the keloid. Although usually not painful, treatment can be difficult, require multiple follow-ups and is not always successful.
